Zahia 2022
Tatreez embroidery, Aida cloth, screen print, airdry clay, acrylic paint
I was inspired by the delicate artistry of my great-grandmother Zahia women of Ramallah, I explored the intricate dance between memory, grief, and the passage of time. This collection is a tribute to Zahia, a woman whose hands wove tales of heritage, resilience, and the enduring power of craft. The embroidery serves as a visual dialogue, addressing the nuanced nature of memory and the complex reactions elicited by the passage of time. A vessel for the transmission of symbols, stories, and identity. The hand-crafted frames that encase each embroidery draw inspiration from the ornate iron wrought gates.
